仮面はどこから来たかは誰も知らない。
村人は, 仮面は森の中からやってきたと言う。
それは森の精霊, つまり動物のかたちに変身した精霊である。
それは神からの贈り物であり, 神の啓示により天からやってきた。
仮面は地上に生きているものに宿る精霊からの贈り物で,
日常の生活を加護し悪霊から人々を守ってくれる大切な存在である。
仮面の種類はカモシカ, 水牛, イボイノシシ, サイチョウ, フクロウ,
蝶, 蛇などがあり,仮面はこの村だけで120点くらいあるそうだ。

No one knows where the masks originally came from.
According to the villagers, the masks came from the forest.
They are believed to be forest spirits that have transformed into animal forms.
The masks are considered gifts from the gods, sent down from the heavens through divine revelation.
The masks are precious beings, bestowed by the spirits that dwell in all living things on earth.
They are believed to protect everyday life and to safeguard people from evil spirits.
There are many kinds of masks, including those in the forms of serows, water buffalo,
warthogs, hornbills, owls, butterflies, and snakes.
There are said to be about 120 masks in this village alone.
