コアガラスは, 紀元前16世紀頃のメソポタミアで生まれた古代ガラスの技法である。
耐火性のコア（芯）に熔かしたガラスを巻き付けて成形し, 色ガラスの装飾を施した後,
ゆっくりと冷ましてから芯を抜き取ることで作品が完成す。
吹きガラスの発明とともに一度は途絶えたこの技法を, 佐藤透さんは長年にわたる試行錯誤の末に習得した。
古代コアガラスの技法を礎としながらも, 独自の感性によって現代的な美しさを追求し, 唯一無二の創作世界を築き上げている。

Core-formed glass originated in Mesopotamia around the 16th century BCE.
Molten glass was carefully wound around a heat-resistant core to create the vessel, then decorated with colored glass trails.
After the piece was slowly annealed, the core was removed, leaving behind a delicate hollow form.
Although this ancient technique disappeared following the invention of glassblowing,
Toru Sato rediscovered and mastered it through years of dedicated experimentation.
While drawing inspiration from ancient core-formed glass, he has developed a distinctive artistic vision of his own,
creating works that transcend tradition with remarkable originality and beauty.
